Hi! I’m Ayumi. I am a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern, shortly finishing up my second Master’s degree program, at Rocky Mountain University. Prior to that I earned my Master’s degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Utah and also work as a school counselor. I enjoy working with children and adults and aim to have a warm, calming, and genuine therapeutic style. I have been trained in Sandtray, Expressive Arts, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), and have am IFS informed. I incorporate mindfulness, DBT skills, and FLASH technique in helping clients manage stressors and life events. My goal is to create a safe space where my clients can explore their feelings and build resilience.
I have a passion for helping children grow, heal, and express themselves. While working in my undergrad, I had a professor tell me that the most important thing a child could do is play. I believe that’s their first language and can be used to allow children to go where they need to in their healing journey.
Some things I enjoy doing are playing with my dog, going outside in the sunshine, watching and playing sports, eating good food, and spending time with my family. I have recently discovered the excitement of being a plant mom as well! I love to find the small joys in life and am excited to help my clients do the same.
