Brainspotting Therapy in Cedar City and Kanab
Healing beyond words. A gentle, focused way of exploring the connection between what you feel emotionally and what you experience physically.
How We Help
Sometimes you can talk about something over and over and still feel like your body has not caught up with what your mind understands. You may know an experience is in the past, yet certain situations, sensations, or memories continue to affect you.
Brainspotting is a body-focused therapy approach that may help you access and process experiences that can be difficult to reach through words alone.

Brainspotting (BSP) is a therapeutic approach developed by psychotherapist David Grand. It is based on the idea that where you look and how you experience something internally can be connected to emotional and physiological responses. During a session, your therapist may help you identify a specific point in your visual field that seems connected to a particular emotion, memory, or body sensation. With your attention gently focused on that point, you are invited to notice what happens internally, without needing to tell a detailed story or find the right words.
A Few Ways We Can Help
Trauma & Difficult Experiences
Brainspotting is often used as part of trauma-informed therapy because it works with the experience you are having right now, rather than requiring you to explain everything that happened.
Anxiety & Stress
Explore the emotional and physical responses that keep you feeling on edge, overwhelmed, or stuck in cycles of worry, alongside anxiety therapy.
EMDR & Body-Based Work
Brainspotting pairs naturally with EMDR for clients who process difficult experiences more through body sensation than narrative.

You Don’t Have to Have the Words
Sometimes healing begins with understanding. Sometimes it begins with feeling safe enough to notice what is happening inside.
01
No Detailed Story Required
One of the things people appreciate about Brainspotting is that it does not require a detailed verbal account of everything you have experienced. You can share as much or as little as feels appropriate.
02
Your Body Is Part of the Conversation
Stress and overwhelming experiences affect breathing, muscle tension, and sleep. Brainspotting incorporates attention to these body-based responses, not just intellectual understanding.
03
You Set the Pace
The goal is not to force a memory to surface. It is to create space for your brain and body to process what you are experiencing at a pace that feels manageable.
Each of our therapists has their own training and specializations. Not all therapists are trained in the same treatment modalities. Please refer to each individual therapist’s page for information on what they specialize in, or call or email us if you have questions about which therapist will be right for you and your individual needs.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Brainspotting?
Brainspotting is a therapeutic approach developed by psychotherapist David Grand, based on the idea that where you look and how you experience something internally can be connected to emotional and physiological responses.
Do I have to talk about my trauma?
No. Brainspotting does not require a detailed verbal account of everything you have experienced. Your therapist may ask questions to help you understand what you are experiencing, but the process is much less dependent on finding the perfect words.
What does a Brainspotting session look like?
Your therapist helps you identify something you would like to work on, such as a memory, emotion, or physical sensation, then guides you to notice a point in your visual field connected to that experience while you simply observe what comes up.
What can Brainspotting help with?
Although Brainspotting is commonly associated with trauma work, it’s also used for anxiety and stress, emotional regulation, grief and loss, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and performance or creative blocks.
