Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy in Cedar City and Kanab

A structured, therapist-supported approach for depression, anxiety, and trauma that has not fully responded to talk therapy alone.

How We Help

Sometimes depression, anxiety, or the effects of trauma stay stuck even after months of consistent therapy. You have done the work, yet the heaviness has not lifted the way you hoped it would.

Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy pairs the medical oversight of a licensed outside provider with the ongoing support of your own therapist, so the psychotherapy work continues before and after each medical session.

Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, often shortened to KAP, combines a medically supervised ketamine session with structured psychotherapy support. Our therapists provide the preparation and integration work, helping you set intentions beforehand and process what comes up afterward, while a licensed outside medical provider conducts the required medical evaluation and administers and monitors the ketamine itself. Ketamine is a controlled substance, and this medical piece is never provided by AMLC therapists directly. KAP is generally considered for depression, anxiety, and trauma-related symptoms that have not fully responded to standard talk therapy, and it is used alongside, not instead of, ongoing psychotherapy.

A Few Ways We Can Help

Depression

For depression that has not lifted with therapy alone, KAP offers a medically supervised option to use alongside your ongoing depression care.

Anxiety

When anxiety keeps cycling despite consistent therapy work, KAP can be considered as an additional layer of support alongside anxiety therapy.

Trauma & PTSD

For trauma symptoms that persist despite trauma-focused work such as trauma therapy or EMDR, KAP is sometimes used as a complementary approach.

Why Choose Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy at A Mindful Life Counseling

Whether you are considering KAP for the first time or already working with a medical provider, our therapists coordinate the psychotherapy side of your care every step of the way.

01

Collaborative Care

Your AMLC therapist and a licensed outside medical provider work together, so the medical and therapeutic sides of your care stay connected.

02

Structured Process

Every KAP program includes a preparation session to set intentions, a monitored medical session with the outside provider, and integration sessions with your therapist afterward.

03

You Are Never Alone

You have support from your own therapist before and after each medical session, not only during the appointment itself.

A Note on Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy

Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy involves a controlled medical treatment. The ketamine itself is evaluated for and administered by a licensed outside medical provider, not by AMLC therapists, following an independent medical screening. KAP is not appropriate for everyone and is not a first-line or stand-alone treatment. Not all of our therapists offer KAP preparation and integration support. Please contact us to ask whether KAP may be right for you and which of our therapists work with KAP clients.
